THREE people charged at protests over logging at Sylvia Creek in Toolangi State Forest have appeared in court.
The three activists, including Healesville environmentalist Steve Meacher appeared before Seymour Magistrates Court last week in relation to their role at the protests last month.
They have been charged by Department of Sustainability and Environment prosecutors with failing to leave a public safety zone when requested by an authorised officer, performing an activity in a public safety zone and re-entering the zone.
The matter was adjourned for a further hearing on September 29.
Fourteen people were arrested during the series of protests at the Sylvia Creek site. The protesters say logging will wipe out the habitat of the endangered Leadbeater’s possum.
VicForests has maintained no possum habitat exists in the logging coupe.
The Supreme Court has granted an injunction to prohibit logging until further investigations can be made.
